^^ what you said.

Some bleak reading
30 Cristiano Ronaldo has had more shots in his first four games at Euro 2012 than the entire England squad (29) had at the tournament

20 Italy had more shots on target in their quarter-final match than England had in total in their four matches in Ukraine

88 England conceded more than twice as many shots to France, Sweden, Ukraine and Italy than they had against those teams

39 England had on average 39% of the possession in their four games, their lowest figure at a tournament since Euro 1980

29 Ashley Young and James Milner put in 29 crosses in the four games. Only three reached an England team-mate

300 England averaged 300 passes per match. The four semi-finalists have averaged 479

15 England completed only 15 passes in the 15 minutes of the second period of extra-time against Italy

18 England's most successful passing combination against Italy was the goalkeeper Joe Hart to the substitute striker Andy Carroll

115 Andrea Pirlo had more passes against England than England's four starting midfielders had against Italy

18 Mesut Ozil has created 18 chances in Germany's four games. Steven Gerrard, England's most prolific chance creator, has made six

102 England ran on average 102km in their four matches. Italy ran 7.5km further on average per match

86 England have had the most tackles in the tournament, with Steven Gerrard's 18 the most of any player

29 England have blocked the most shots at Euro 2012, 17 more than Italy, 19 more than Germany, 21 more than Portugal and 24 more than Spain

Who knows, maybe it's a good thing for the long run. It'll force countries like England to come out of the Jurassic era and re-learn fundamentals, though that might take a decade.

I was shattered when the Germans lost, they would have throttled them. Worst case scenario, everyone tries to copy Spain and league play becomes totally unwatchable.

Couldn't disagree more. Spain's game is quite watchable. It's also quite good.
Too bad the Italians didn't show up.

That's the problem - they're good. When it clicks, it can sometimes be spectacular - but 99% of the time it's watching paint dry. The formation is interesting, but otherwise they seem to concentrate on four, very practically sound things:

a) push high upfield
b) don't give the ball away
c) short, no risk passing
d) Always keep moving

A - stifles the game, it's clinical, not entertaining. Teams lacking in ability hoof the ball upfield, they can't build from the back. Everyone is sticking their own team in an eighteen yard box in their own half. No one is tackling them, except the Dutch.

B - Awful. This is my big problem. Run with the ball, show pace. This is why games involving Spain are so boring.

C - I enjoy expansive teams. I'll watch Beckham pick someone out on the other side of the field over two Spaniards passing back and forth to each other with the opposition player too frightened to challenge, lest the more technically proficient players swamp them. It's good to pass from the back, but for god's sake show a little variety.

D - Brilliant, everyone take notes.

All this nonsense about 'three major tournaments, greatest team' is horseshit. You guys beat them in the Confederations Cup in '09.
Brasil's won four consecutive tournaments, twice. Euro counts, but Copa America doesn't :?

So, here's to the glorious losers :bode:

Spain, right now, just has too good of talent, they have guys who would make many of the Euro2012 teams, who don't even get call ups. A freak era for Spanish soccer, similar to the run Brazil went on, when they had some freakish talented players.
