This is a warning to all airlines and we the consumers of air travel. Travel is likely to get worse with a ton of cancellations and delays.

In this case there were a number of conditions that led to the meltdown.

1) Vaccine mandate for ATC and airline employees.

2) Weather

3) Demand by us as travelers.

On Friday JAX Center was already scheduled to their capacity. When some employees were not allowed into the building due to their recent Covid shots the Center was unable to handle as many flights per hour. This lead to some flights being held at their orgin point for a period of time.

Then the weather moved in and some airports were “closed” for a period of time to allow the weather to move thru. This combined with the ATC reduced flow brought capacity to extremely low levels. As flights began to delay for significant periods, flight crews began to reach their maximum work hours. Once that max is reached or would be reached during the next flight those pilots or waitresses are done for the day.

Now you have reduced hourly flow, planes with crews who can’t operate the remainder of their schedule and then you add to that no slack in the system for most airlines as they don’t have a ton of reserve crews. Some employees can’t work for a few days after getting their shots. Others might be hundreds of miles away and unable to get to their plane or airport as their positioning flight was delayed or canceled.

This was hardest on Southwest as they have the most seats into, out of and within Florida where the issues happened.

This will become a big issue for all airlines in mid December when the Federal deadline kicks in. There will be some ATC controllers and some airline pilots and waitresses that refuse to get vaccinated. If this mandate holds they will all not be able to work and will be fired or reassigned. At that point we will see this same situation happen again on a larger scale as pilots and ATC controllers can’t be replaced overnight.

I guess we can hope that ATC and pilots who aren’t vaccinated purchase those religious exemption letters that are available online. This will allow them to keep their jobs and avoid this meltdown.

Wrong. Fucking fire these piles of shit like your hero did in 1981. The religious exception is bullshit.

You are truly one of the worst pieces of shit to ever post on this board. Start giving up your paycheck for reparations now and then you can shut the fuck up about your racist blasts.

Huge difference between firing workers who abandoned their jobs and firing someone in a protected class because of the protected class.

So you want to ignore some parts of the Civil Rights act of 1964 now? But I am sure you would have a problem if Southwest fired anyone who claimed to follow Islam.

Being an anti-vaxxer isn't a protected class, even if you try to claim the bullshit religious exemption. You also, once again, either intentionally misunderstand or are too ignorant to understand how infectious diseases work. Nobody is going to die or trash their lungs because a co-worker is Muslim.

You have a lot of work to do to catch up with the rest of productive society.

Like I said. Thanks for making my point.

Why do you hate the civil rights act of 1964?

How is treating BrokenPsyche like a normal person workin out for you? He has a mental disorder and you are treating him like he doesn’t. That is not healthy, for you or for him.
