what was your worst car ?

Post by Wolfman »

After my first car which was a used '55 Chevy in 1961, all other cars I bought new off the dealer's llots. By far my worst one was the 1973 Mercury Montego 4-door sedan. Went through 3 or 4 brake jobs and two timing chains before the engine burned out under 70K miles in 1979. Also central NY winters had taken its toll on the body and rust was eating away in several places. The only redeeming quality it had was a nice power train that flew up hills on I-81 with no trouble.

My worst car was a Caprice station wagon I got for 300 dollars after totaling my previous ride. I figured it might be good for a year. It threw a rod 3 months in. Before that it caught fire was able to put out the fire in the engine quickly and gave me non stop carburetor issues. After that I stopped buying beaters and stuck to cars with some chance of giving me 10 years of service.

The Villager was 100% Nissan, as you said.

I had the exact same rig and required nothing more than scheduled maintenance. Lil’ Miss Smackaholic turned left right in front of an old dude in a Chevy pickup. 100% her fault. He hit her right in the rear slider and tore the rear passenger side tire right off.

This was maybe a few weeks after doing a timing belt/water pump. Image

Had 2 Tauri wagons. Both 89s. First had the 3 liter V-6 and was overall, a pretty good car. Second one was loaded, power everything, sunroof and the 3.8 V-6.

It was a POS. The 3.8 was not FoMoCo’s best effort.

We had a Villager bought new in the early 90's when the kids were still toddlers. A great family car, actually.
