I've never felt the allure of trolling under a fake identity. It can be done well under a posters regular nic, if they so choose.

Marty is a good example and masterful at it. So are a few others, while some flat out suck.

I feel the opposite. I never understood trolling under one's primary nick with the intent to get under one's skin, the way SG used to. But I always enjoyed a good character troll. No malice, just establish a goofy narrative and have fun with it. No board beefs or head games. Anyone with half a brain should be in on the joke. The Alliance and reindeer were brilliant. Dan Vogel and Phoenix Rob too. Trollatollah was one of the original greats.
