Seems like the grim reaper is running a Chuck fire sale at the moment. Who's still on the board?

Chuck Connor?

Nope. Still dead.

Chuck D?

Nahh, Nobody kills rappers these days, sadly.

Predicting Chuck Norris' death would likely result in the predictor being roundhouse kicked into the next world himself. Not gonna risk it.

Guess I'll have to go with Chuck Yeager. A 94 year old is generally a good pic. I am pulling for Chuck Shumer though.

Put me down for Sears. I suspect they’ll shut it down after the Xmas season.

Should have done it a decade ago.

You would have thought the companies that pretty much invented long-distance shopping by catalog would have seen Amazon coming. Then again I remember people slagging Sears as long as 30 years ago for their poor service. Dinosaurs got to go where dinosaurs go.

I actually had very good experience with Sears until about 4 or 5 years ago. Sears had a service center in Madison. When I had an issue with a Craftsman snow blower, I dropped it off there and they fixed it. I could also get replacement parts there for appliances. They closed the service center 4 or 5 years ago.

I'm guessing this is something you might know a little something about given your location, what with Xerox and Kodak also having been in prime positions to capitalize on the future within their respective markets only to spectacularly squander them.

It sounded like you were making an observation due to your vast knowledge of the market. Which certainly seemed suspect.

Anyone not on a deserted island the last 10-15 years knows that Sears has had one foot in the grave for a long time. They've stayed afloat the last few year by selling off the family jewelry. I think it would have been best for all involved if they had just shut it down years ago.

When they do go, I suspect they'll take a number of shopping malls with them. I was in the mall on Sunday. Parked right near the door. Wasn't quite a ghost town, but it wasn't like it used to be. Wally-mart down the street was another story.

Isn't KMart part of Sears now? Does this mean they are through as well? Might as well be. Walmart has been curb stomping them for at least 20 years.

It sure as fuck didn't help when they hired an hedge fund manager as their CEO and he promptly sold every bit of profit making potential in the company to his hedge fund. I mean that's some Jay Gould level shit.

Not like he had much choice. He needed operating cash from somewhere. If it can be shown that he gave preferential treatment to his hedge funds, than by all means, crucify him.

Sears was fuct many years ago. This poor sap didn't stand a chance. They should have just sold off the profitable bits, then shut it down years ago. Would have saved shareholders a lot of money.

So let me get this straight
Joe Diffie wrote the lyrics to "lean on me".
And Bill Withers took those lyrics to a much higher level than the actual songwriter.
Both just died within days of each other?

Which proves my point about artistry. A true artist with soul, can and will take the lyrics of the actual songwriter, to a greater level of greatness.
Johnny cash did that several times, especially with Trent Reznor's "Hurt".
Ella Fitzgerald, Sinatra the king elvis, etc....all doing it many times.
If there's someone here who doesn't understand that, I'll be more than happy to educate you.

Per Mitch McTurtleface it's too soon until the election to nominate someone to SCOTUS. We need to wait until next year to nominate any new justices.

Nah.
We only did that because Obama lied to the entire country about Garland Merrick.
The news media of course protected Obama as usual.

Turns out that Obama told the country that Garland was a moderate mainstream judge.
After some research into his decisions and ideology, Obama DID INDEED LIE.
Garland was an extreme left wing nutjob.
So in hindsight, Obama got exactly what he deserved for lying to the nation.

And if Team D hadn’t changed the rules then maybe Kavanaugh isn’t on the SCOTUS. But they did and it is what it is. Don’t like what Mitch did by not approving Garland, then vote in a Team D controlled Senate.
