SF vs KC

Post by War Wagon »

Figured this deserves a thread w/o any gratuitous pics of the greatest city in the world cluttering it up.

That said, Shields got hammered in the 1st and it's 3-0 as I type. I am not surprised. Shields is the most overhyped "ace" in the history of aces.

Long way to go in this game and series. I won't sweat a Game 1 loss.

It's who we are, Wags.

It's what we do.

It's how we roll !!!

7-0 going into the bottom of the 7th with a 2 hitter going.

You have 3 innings to make your move... or this Series is OVER and the Giants become a "Dynasty" with 3 World Series Championships in 5 years.

I'm not as sold on the rest of the Giants rotation. Bumgarner will probably win every start he has in this series. Not breaking any news but this one is big for the Royals tonight.

I did chuckle at the fireworks going off down 7-0.

Ventura going tonight in a really must win game. Haven't seen Peavy lately so I don't know what to expect, but you can expect Yordano to light up the radar gun. Just hoping he can light up the strike zone as well. He can be unhittable as long as he doesn't walk or plunk a half dozen wannabe hitters.

I never thought I'd have more confidence in Vargas and Guthrie than Shields but I certainly do now. Let him walk to whatever chump ass team is sucker enough to sign him to a long term, big money FA contract.

Still, he was solid most of the year and getting Wade Davis in that trade did not suck.

I am tired of hearing and reading shit about Shields. The Royals lost because they didn't hit for shit. They got extremely lucky in their 2 previous games also. They MUST HIT, and they MUST score. 5 runs scored in their last 3 games. Gotta get better run support than that.

Great inning for the Royals... that was fun watching them go off.

I have no idea why Strickland was being such a bitch. Not cool.

I'm glad to see the Royals get back into this thing. It would have been rather boring to watch the Giants sweep another team in the World Series.

Thanks, War Schmuck.

I actually enjoy the game... and appreciate it when I see good baseball being played.

It has nothing to do with who I want to win.

This is one of the reasons I make fun of the "Mid-westerners" little brain.

Enjoy tonight... because it's not going back to the Midwest.

Your sportsmanship resembles a certain guy we have here in slowcal.

Oh yeah, I noticed you left this part of my post out...

Bit harsh, there, Dins.

Before last night's offensive spectacular, the Royals had been looking positively, well, Royal-like the last three games.

But to your point: Shields's epically Verlanderian collapse this post-season has garnered more talk locally than an Ebola breakout. Still, hope remains that the R's can eke out just five more good innings out of Shields's out-of-gas, high-mileage arm before turning the game's balance over to the pen. Be that the case, they stand a puncher's chance of beating Bumgarner (4.03 ERA at home) come Game 5.

HO LEEE DIPSHIT!
Ummmm .... I give zero fucks if he pitched his ass off and struck out all 9 batters in 3 innings. They had 4 hits and one run for the entire game. Hence, my take that they need to HIT and SCORE to win.
Just a dick, you will always be.

Epic take Paul.

Probably would've had more impact if you said it before the Royals got their stool pushed in Saturday and Sunday night.

That said, if they can take game 6, history is on their side for the 7th. Might not be a bad idea to remember to run and steal again.

I had a pretty good feeling they would win tonight and didn't and don't care what the score was.

I have no idea what will happen in game 7, history be damned.

The Royals are making their own history right now.

I almost feel bad for Kansas City... with the way the Giants teased their fan-base tonight. Almost.

Folks in Kansas City are good people with the best hearts of any people in the country (outside of the posters on this board).

Fortunately, I'm from San Francisco and find it kinda funny in a sick way... that they are going to get their hearts ripped out in game 7 after waiting 30 years for something "good" to happen to them.

Since I view sports as "entertainment" and not who I am like the Midwestern folk... It's going to make me laugh even harder watching them run off to the closest "Piggly Wiggly" to down their sorrow with sugar filled Debbie Downers and bud light.

This is the consequence (genetically speaking) of living in the shithole known as IKYABWAI.

Sorry you had to hear it tonight... during your delusional celebration of game 6 (our fault) since we find humor like that.

Tomorrow (Game 7) is going to be ... "Your Worst Nightmare"

It's how we roll !!!

Great pitching by Ventura. Bullpen fully rested and ready for whatever may come their way tonight. I hope Guthrie has a strong night and keeps them from becoming a factor early, and keeps Ned from
going nutty professor. Lots of chatter about Madbum also. How many innings can he legitimately be available for tonight?

That couldn't have gone better for the Royals last night. Peavy out quickly and Pettit getting touched up...wonder about his availability in middle relief tonight. Neither team really used the back end of their bullpen so that didn't get messed up. Wise move on Bochy's part to rest Posey late in the game.

Not a classic Game 7 matchup with Hudson-Guthrie but it'll be a team win for whomever gets it done. Both teams are littered with "hero of the night" candidates and they can come at you in waves...see the 2nd inning last night. The only true dominant player in this series is Bumgarner. Ventura has been the 2nd best pitcher in the series for sure.

The Giants ideal situation is get 5 strong from Hudson and maybe you throw Bumgarner as a 1-2 inning bridge the back end of the bullpen. For the Royals...similar situation with Guthrie getting through 6 and Yost can stick with his 7th-8th-9th routine.

A Game 7 following a Game 6 blowout tends to be a low scoring tight affair...water finds its level. I see a 3-2 Giants win...Bumgarner throws shutout ball in the middle of the game after Hudson gives them enough and adds a coat of polish to his inevitable series MVP award.

Their only shot is bring Madbum in early when Hudson gets in trouble

I'd bring him in after the KC batting order saw Hudson once.

Not a bad strategy. Although if he goes 9up, 9 down, I'd leave him in for 1,2,3 again, and hopefully that covers 4 innings, then go crazy with the bully.

Face it, we need KC to win. If SF wins, toolio will be even more insufferable than he normally is. Even though he is a transplanted midwesterner, he dangles from the balls of all the Bay Area teams.

Yesterday was our 31st anniversary, today is our daughters (an even more rabid fan of the Royals than I am, of which I have no idea how that happened) 27th birthday.

No better present for her than to watch them win a CS.

But even if they don't, not many fans here will cry. This team has given us more than we ever could have dreamed of. I said before the season that if this team ever made it this far again, this town would go apeshit... and it has.

Don't get me wrong. I want to win, badly, and think they will. But if for some reason shit happens and they don't, KC fans have suffered much worse bitter disappointment with the Chiefs.

Hell, after that unbelievable comeback against Oakland in the wildcard game, it was all gravy from there.

Nail biter so far, not that I have any left. I'd bite my toenails if I were limber enough.

I hate that Herrera threw an 0-2 pitch anywhere near hittable.

I hate getting drilled by pitches and then grounding into DP's.

I love that I have a reason to talk about a baseball game on October 29th, 2014.
