Now that the server gerbil wheel has been greased, is there any chance TT gets rolling again? Not like we can go out and do anything else on a Friday night.

88 has assured me that he is working on getting T1B radio back up. I'll be glad to play tunes too when it does.

Yeah--perish the thought that some in this place listen to something different ? I enjoy playing oldies that I played when they were new and also pick up on some new things from more recent years. I still say most all the best stuff was done before say 1990, but there are still some neat tunes being produced.

Outstanding show last night. Tune Town is definitely open for business again. Normal occupancy I think is about 50, so even using the 25% rule, we can still accommodate a dozen or so.

Definitely worth the price of admission.

The rest of you losers need to get in there. It's not like you got anything else on your plate on a friday night these days.

He hasn't requested many songs, but those that he has, I've played. When he throws his tantrums complaining about my playlists, I ask him for suggestions, to which his canned response is "play the best songs by the best bands." He'd simply rather bitch than contribute anything meaningful. Shocking, I know.

Tonight in TuneTown, we celebrate the fairer sex as a follow-up to last week's show honoring mothers. IB suggested a show devoted to women musicians, and I will oblige. The episode will include girl groups, classic rock, blues, pop, punk, alternative, instrumentals, and even a little disco - all from female artists and bands featuring women. The show will get started around 9:00 PM Eastern or earlier, and you should be a part of it. Dig the chicks!

WOW!!!!

To you fukkers that were sitting at home crying because you can't go out on a Friday night and have a good time, you missed a damn good time in tune town.

I have always been mildly impressed by Smackie's interweb DJ skillz.

I am now in awe.

He did 4 plus hours of estrogen powered rock and roll, blues, country, bluegrass etc.

It was fukking epcot. Actually, it was a few notches past epcot. I don't think there's been an adjective yet invented to describe it.

If you weren't there, you suck. But, you already knew that.

Nice to have some tunes on a Friday night. Smackie must spend a lot of spare time culling through tunes and loading them up to play. I know what it takes and I have no where near the library of iTunes he has on my iMac.
Last night he did play several numbers that were hits in their time so his library is not just obscure album filler/throw aways, although he does have a lot of them.
If I can ever get the new Mac OSX Catalina to pair up with the software for broadcasting, I'll be back.

Thanks for the kind words, 'holic, and props to IB for the inspiration to air a female-dominated episode of TuneTown. Went as well, or perhaps even better, than might have been expected. If anyone's interested in a re-airing of the show, let me know and I'll make it happen.
Wolfman wrote:his library is not just obscure album filler/throw aways
I'm fine with having some (much?) of what I play characterized as obscure, and perhaps a few songs might be considered "throwaways," but just because a song was never released as a single or featured in heavy FM radio rotation does not make it a throwaway or somehow lacking in quality compared to the "hits." Among the most egregious shortcomings of the music and radio industry is its failure to expose some of the best music created to the masses by limiting single releases and radio airplay to the relatively small number of songs that a few industry executives and program directors deem worthy. I try to do my (very) small part to remedy such injustices by playing great (or at least above-average) songs that are seldom heard, and mixing in a few hits to spice things up a bit. That being said, last night's lucky listeners were treated to:

1 Regina Spektor - "You've Got Time" (Theme from "Orange Is the New Black")
2 Ronnie Spector - "Hey Sah-Lo-Ney"
3 Bette Midler - "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"

I know the choices are almost endless, but surprised there was no Genya Raven as she is featured a lot of LSUG.
Sure some albums are chock full of goodies, but all too many had those fillers and chestnuts.

So whataya say?

Another evening of the fairer sex?

I’m sure you could do a few more shows, but that means I can’t hear a lot of the stuff I want. I think you should shoot for at least one chick song per set.

I'm sure I could do something close to that; still have plenty of songs in the queue featuring the ladies, but I probably won't make a dedicated effort to include them in every set. But I'll likely play sets with more than one, so it'll even out. Since it's Memorial Day weekend, I'll do sets about wars, battles, memories, etc. Also may do a murder hornet set, because I can. See you there.
