I'd like to see Asleep at the Wheel. Lyle Lovett show sounds pretty good too.

I saw Lyle Lovett and his "Large Band" a couple of years ago at Humphrey's. One of the best shows ever.

Or maybe you just couldn't figure out what to do with it because there was no hot link.

Saw Robert Cray last Saturday at a sold out Belly Up Tavern. He was quite good, better than when I saw him 20 years ago. He's always been a great singer, but his guitar playing has really improved. He plays mostly if not all, his own material, and has an unique blues sound. I'd rate him up there with guys like Albert & BB King.

He kept mentioning, "Thanks for coming out on a Tuesday night!", a reference to most national performers ending up in Los Angeles for the weekend, and in San Diego Tues-Thurs. lol Funny guy. I'm actually in for Gary Clark Jr next Tuesday, followed by Beth Hart Wednesday.

Sorry to say I forgot my phone, so no photos, lucky you. :)

Back to back shows last night & the night before, a first and probably last for me. Both were great shows.

Gary Clark Jr at Humphreys Tues, San Diego Bay and Shelter Island marina to the left. I liked general admission, the tight seating is gone & you can move around. Gary Clark Jr reminds me of a young Robert Cray, a very good singer and guitar player with a unique sound and style. The show lasted until 10:20 PM, the latest I can remember any show at Humphreys.

Beth Hart at the Belly Up tavern was also general admission. I really just heard about Beth when she started playing with Joe Bonamassa. She was nails in their recordings, especially their Don't Explain CD. I came away quite impressed, she's another unique talent and great blues singer, with a recognizable style and voice. Plays the piano and guitar too.

Starting to be impressed with the phone camera. It's providing good hand held photos in low and varied light, using longer exposure.

The last thing I'll mention about Gary Clark's performance is Humphreys is a resort, and as such people in attendance ranged from children to retirees of all races and ethnicities. Gary asked for the lights to be turned onto the audience several times, saying how much he liked the crowd, and that our nation needs to come together and stop the hate. Right he is.

Never seen Humphrey's with GA. Is that a permanent thing or only for some shows?

We bought a hotel package a few years ago for a Steely Dan concert. Ended up with the second floor room in the back center directly above the sound board. That was sweet. We sat on the balcony and watched the sound check, then invited my stepdaughter and her two kids to sit in the room while we took our seats down front.

I believe genral admission at Humphreys is on a per performer/show basis, and is indicated at Ticket Master when looking/purchasing tickets.

The hotel package must have been nice, people on the balconies looked like they were having a blast with their mini parties.

WTF - YouTube embeds don't work any more?

We went to the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday night for Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck.

It was billed as

50 years of Jeff Beck
Jeff Beck
Steven Tyler, special guest
Beth Hart, special guest
Buddy Guy

I wasn't sure how they were going to do this - four different bands, or what. So I sort of expected maybe to first see Beth Hart and her band, then Steven Tyler with his band, then Buddy Guy and his band, and then Jeff Beck with his band. And then always some possibilities of different artists sitting in with each other at the end.

It wasn't quite like that.

At 8:00 the announcer said to please welcome seven time Grammy winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Member, the great Buddy Guy. I was OK with that. He did a relatively short (45 minute) set with his usual recent songlist - Damn Right I've Got the Blues, While You Were Slipping Out, etc., and his usual F-word filled banter, and a walk out into the stands while playing. It was cool, though I'd seen almost the exact same show on TV from Red Rocks a couple of years ago. Nothing new or unexpected, but the man is amazing for somebody just turned 80 years old. Still can definitely rock the house down.

https://youtu.be/ShQ7gdqIkhU

After a 15 minute break the next band was set up. Beth Hart? Steven Tyler? nope. Jeff Beck, and some chick with a megaphone walking around behind the front section of seats talking something about how the revolution will be televised. This turns out to be from Beck's newest album and the singer was Rosie Bones, who is the singer on the album. Carmen Vendenburg (also from the band Bones) plays rhythm guitar in the band.

After that they brought out Jimmy Hall (from Wet Willie) to sing and did a medley of old Yardbirds songs (Over Under Sideways Down, Heart Full of Soul, For Your Love).

Excellent nostalgic rock and roll and it's looking like this really will be 50 years of Jeff Beck. Correct. They moved on to the Jeff Beck Group with Beck's Bolero, Plynth and Morning Dew.

Then, into the jazz rock fusion era, out came Jan Hammer to do some stuff from Blow by Blow and Wired. This music still sounds fresh. Jeff Beck is still an amazing player with a totally unique sound.

THEN Beth Hart came out and sang one of her signature songs, Etta James's I'd Rather Go Blind. Then Buddy Guy came back out to play Let Me Love You Baby.

Next unexpected guest - Billy Gibbons came out and did Rough Boy and Company Store (an old Tennessee Ernie Ford song).

Thought at first this was going to be Superstition...
https://youtu.be/0BZfDsuMPVo

THEN Steven Tyler came out and sang Train Kept a Rollin', and Shapes of Things (another Yardbirds cover).

Final song of the set was Beck's version of A Day in the Life.

For the encore everybody came out and did Purple Rain. Not a big Prince fan, but I'll have to say this was a pretty damn good homage.

Looks like it was a great tribute show with a bunch of R&R & Blues HoFs. Congrats on making it Mikey, & putting in the extra effort to do so.

I saw Foghat back in 1977 for their "Live" tour release at a sold out Capital Center. Currently the band is on tour for their new record Under the Influence and appeared at the Belly Up Tavern last night. I'm not much for going back to see bands I saw decades ago during their heyday, & was going to take a miss until a friend at the office talked me into going. Drummer Roger Earl is the only original member left, most of the other guys have been with the band since the 1990's. They sounded good with lots of slide guitar, a drum solo, and pretty much sounded the same including singer Charlie Huhn. The Belly Up's small venue provided an added dimension that was missing at the much larger Capital Center, and livened up an otherwise typical Thursday night.

YouTube also started their music app so it's probably only a matter of time before all music will be pay per listen.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional. I think the problem has something to do with Chrome and the Adobe Flash Player. If I disable Adobe Flash it give me a message the Adobe Flash is disabled. If I enable it I just get a black rectangle where the video should be.

Something in your setup isn't quite right. Perhaps a chrome, antivirus, or anti-malware issue.

May be worth trying IE or Firefox.
