Linsanity!!!

Post by M2 »

Good to see another San Francisco Bay Area kid taking their game to the NBA and shocking the world.

From an article before the lakers played the Knicks last night...

Not everyone is so impressed. Bryant was asked about Lin following the Lakers' win over the Celtics on Thursday.

"What?" he said. "No idea. I know who he is, but I really don't know what's going on too much about him. I don't even know what he's done. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I'll take a look at [the game film] tonight, though."

When pressed further, Bryant said: "I've heard about him and stuff like that, but what's the ... Is he getting triple-doubles and stuff?"

Knicks 92, Lakers 85. Lin 38, Kobe 31.

How did that taste... Kobe.

Of course, he was on the Warriors last year... which pretty much means if you're any good you're guaranteed to be released or traded.

Can't really fault the Warriors for letting him go. He wasn't exactly prime-time ready when he got chances to play. That's putting it mildly.

Good enough kid I guess. A bit of a slanty Tebow type. mvscal will be around to suck his egg roll soon enough.

Oh no he didn't...

The "Bay Area" kid... messed around and got a double double... and a game winning 3 with 0.5 on the clock.

27 points and 11 assists.

6-0 as a starter.

He's going to need to do something about his turnovers but he's got the Knicks playing at a high level right now.

and ???

Do you have a point other than he wanted to get the hell out of the south bay ???

Across the bay lies Cal, where Lin desperately wanted to play. But Bears coach Ben Braun was Lindifferent. He passed.

My home town, and next door to the center of your personal Hell.
For instance, Stanford is literally across a boulevard from Palo Alto High School, where Lin led the Vikings to a 32-1 record and the CIF state championship as a senior. Yet then-Stanford coach Trent Johnson wouldn't walk across the street to sign him.

"We knew all about him," admits Johnson, now the coach at LSU. "But nobody in the Bay Area saw then what we're seeing now. … It wasn't like there was pressure on me to recruit him. There was zero pressure. None."
Never really realized how monumentally stupid Trent Johnson is. "We knew all about him but...it wasn't like there was pressure on me to recruit him...".
I guess he was "pressured" to recruit all the other losers he brought in.

Papa Willie wrote: So Lin is currently 59th in scoring (PPG)

Let's look at his numbers as a starter, shall we, rather than a 2-minutes at garbage time scrub...

14.8 PPG, which is fine for a PG.
17th in assits per game
His numbers as a starter make him #4 (extrapolated, obviously).
22nd in steals
Starting numbers make him #2.
and 9th in turnovers
Starting numbers make him #1, by a country freaking mile... but that'll happen with young PGs, part of the growing pains.
