Better Late Than Never

Post by Dinsdale »

Call it.

Even before seeing some of today's action, I was thinking Henrick Stenson.

Rory is due.

A guy with 14 majors is a dark horse? Golf Channel egg-spurts last night said he was a top 10 contender. I remember when Kendra had a hissy fit (who doesn't?) when I picked Steve Stricker as a PGA dark horse (he still hasn't won a major).

Agree on Henrik, but KUCH could do it...

Rory putting better so that could be good...

I like Tiger on the outside...and Louis OOSTHEIZEN could contend...

we shall know more on Monday of course

Well that Chinese kid is he's driving the ball well, he's chipping well, he's putting well. So you shake his hand, pat him on the back and tell him good job.

And don't serve kung pao chicken at the dinner. Or whatever the hell they eat.

My winner, I like what that Spieth kid is doing.

Dark Horse is that Chinese kid. Although he's not so damn dark after shooting three under today.

We've seen this movie before... twice. The sequel ended much differently from the original.

Anyone watch the par 3 on Wednesday? Pretty entertaining. I'm sure everyone has seen the replay of Jack's grandson sinking a hole-in-one. Two thirds of the way through the old guys (Nicklaus, Player & Watson) were all in the top 6. Tom Freaking Watson won it at -6. He's older than me.

Oh yeah, and Tony Finau was running backwards towards a green celebrating a hole-in-one when he dislocated his ankle. He bent down and snapped it back into place. He said it hurt a lot. He went out yesterday and shot a 68.

Looks like Eldrick gets a check.

Of the Top 10:

1 Patrick Reed -10
2 Marc Leishman -7
T3 Rory McIlroy -4 Major winner
T3 Jordan Spieth -4 Major winner
T3 Henrik Stenson -4 Major winner
T6 Dustin Johnson -3 Major winner
T6 Justin Thomas -3 Major winner
T6 Charley Hoffman -3
T9 Tony Finau -2
T9 Rickie Fowler -2
T9 Louis Oosthuizen -2 Major winner
T9 Justin Rose -2 F Major winner
T9 Bubba Watson -2 Major winner
T9 Adam Hadwin -2

I see a trend here. I'm not betting against the guys who have done it before.

And poor Sergio has to stick around for the whole weekend.

Patrick "I'm the man, just ask me" Reed put a big crimp in that whole "anyone within 10 of the lead" thing.

 who will ever forget that Masters gaff...Fuzzy still trying to live it down....

After two days and Patrick Reed is on top with a bevy of great players in pursuit....
don't think Reed can survive at the top of the leader board whether the pressure comes on Saturday as the leader or Sunday
which we all know "is where the tournament begins" uttered by every winner....the pressure is something I can't imagine....I mean I go out and play a tournament and I have ginormous butterflies in my stomach....these days I think it's more like I'm nervous because I don't want to make a mistake on the first shot.....embarrassing to say the least if you worm burn one down there about 150 yards.....egads

anywhoo back to the issue at hand.....Leishman is kind of an unknown quantity so I don't know what will happen with him....
the five names I think will put an enormous amount of pressure are McIlroy, Stensen, Spieth, Thomas, and Johnson....

as we all know almost any hole out there can rack up a huge number.....
if you haven't seen it, here's Sergio's 13 at the 15th.....

that was like watching Tin Cup.....they were all quality shots just too much back spin on them.....the one he hit to the right of the pin got a shitty kick.....other than that, it's like holy shit Serge old buddy, do you think you can just go long with it instead?

Winner: Justin Thomas
Runner Up: Jordan Spieth

Dark Horse: Tony Finau

I've made 13 on a hole before. The difference between Sergio and me, is that I generally didn't hit 4 near perfect wedges in a row on the way to mine. Mine usually involved playing lumberjack due to a life long slice problem.

That is utter bullshit. They really should take a fukking bulldozer to that green and fix it. The idea with golf is, you should be encouraged to shoot for the pin, not the back of the green.

Did they have a mic on Sergio? I would like to hear the audio. I am fluent in spanish swearing, so I shouldn't have needed any translation.

I think I've gone 13 before. But that's been a looong time. I probably wouldn't have put any in the water, because I'd be a sissy and hit way too much club into that fucker, then take 4 more to get it in.

I had Redd all the way.

How hammered was Serg in the cabin? I was on the phone with a friend right before that, and asked that question. He replied "please." His OL probably told him "you're drunk. Keep your mouth shut and smile a lot." Which he did. Funny stuff.
