No, the bottom line is they got the story right. And if they got this one right about Palin, look for them to dare McCain's lawyers to file a suit.

And more than likely taken out of context - but I'd need to research the comments. Obama's situation is that he needed somebody with experience to make his ticket look more appealing and experienced. McCain has more experience than Obama so his "experience" hasn't been called into question.

The funniest thing is that Palin actually has more experience being where the buck stops than Obama does.

wrong, I couldn't care less about whether she was getting porked by her husband's business partner, just like I don't particularly care whether her daughter is pregnant or not

the bottom line is when she interjects her family into the discussion (e.g. her four or five references to her son going to Iraq), she can't turn around and become indignant when her pregnant daughter is brought into the discussion

Precisely. And if she's been honest, and forthright about all - she will withstand the attacks.

But the tactic is already backfiring and being called into question by DNC strategists anyway, at least according to Geoge Snuffalufagous.

They will never file a lawsuit. No way in the world does the McCain campaign open Palin's life history to the Enquirer during discovery. No way, no how.

Let's just step back...and take a deep breath.

regardless of your "political" stripe--and beyond the tedious racist taunts and general shallow smears of the Rove Monkeys--babs/Dio/cuda (all the same person, but you knew that)--there really is no true political theory advocated or discussed here--we must all just hold on a minute and think....

Are you in any way whatsoever serious in actually considering this bitchy wind-up moron small-town hack as an actual world leader? Because....?

In other words, you can't be serious. The notion that Christer cult issues such as abortion, teaching Creationism in schools, praying, etc., are somehow important to this election--to the real situation in the world--is patently absurd. Brood Mare, you noticed, had nothing whatsoever to say about the economy. And McBush is worse. His demented theories have been proven disastrous for many years--from Reagan onwards. And you DID notice that when ol' gramps toddled on stage following her annoying speech, he looked very much like a man with about a year to live.

If she has more scandals, bring them out. Let Troopergate unfold to its (pretty clear) damning conclusion. Let Rusp Limpdick hoot and holler like the stupid fat hillbilly he is, and then let the repairing and healing of America--at home and abroad--ensue under the proper and capable administration of 'Bama and Biden.

Her creationism beliefs look like the height of sanity compared to the fact that, up until 6 years ago, she belonged to an Assembely of God church that practices speaking in tongues.

No. They God Damn Bush's critics and spout Jews deserve to get bombed rhetoric.
But Pastor Kalnins has also preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to hell; questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted to heaven; charged that the 9/11 terrorist attacks and war in Iraq were part of a war "contending for your faith;" and said that Jesus "operated from that position of war mode."

A straight up pair of questions, especially for Wags, mvs, Tom and Poptart.

If your wife or daughter were the victim of rape and subsequently got pregnant, and given the horrific emotional scarring that comes with such a violation, would you force her to carry said child to term? Even against her will? Think about this before reacting and try not to speak for them, especially if you haven't discussed this with them beforehand. And remember, how someone feels when they aren't a victim is a far cry from how they would feel IF they became a victim.
I can't "force" my daughter to clean her fucking room, I doubt I'd have much luck forcing her to have a baby she didn't want. I wouldn't even try. I'd simply support any decision she made, but knowing her feelings/beliefs on abortion and children in general, she'd probably have that child and then put it up for adoption.
Question number two. If your wife or daughter had a 90 plus percentage chance of dying due to a childbirth, especially one in which a fetus might not survive the birth anyway, would you take that gamble on her life? And let's not get caught up in the percentages, these things do occur.
Again, not my decision... but if it were, I'd say to abort.

Don't misunderstand me, I realize there are very real circumstances where an abortion seems like the best alternative. And no, just because the child may be born into abject poverty isn't one of those circumstances. But like trev noted, most occur as a matter of convenience... a routine procedure no more serious than having a wart removed. That's what I'm dead set against. I'm also against any public funding of abortion.

Abortion is one of those issues that can be debated effectively from either position. But at the end of the day, I believe that a human life is just too damn miraculously precious to flippantly discard under any but the most extreme circumstance.

Hey, thanks Wags.

Once again, I do appreciate the well thought out and serious replies. It is by no means an issue I take lightly. It is so easy to be flippant or view something through blinders. And on this matter, there are no easy answers. It is different for everybody. Life is precious, and while I personally don't view abortion as an act of murder, at least not in black and white terms, I don't disregard those that do see it as such. And of course, putting a child born out of rape up for adoption is not only an act of courage, it is also one of mercy.

Abortion is a choice of absolute last resort, but a choice that under specific circumstances, must be, at the very least, considered.

I remember having this debate with him at TNW where he cleaned my clock in a 12 round TKO.

It was pretty much over when he posted a line something like this:

So then, what is your choice? Honest answers please.
How about we start with stop killing babies out of convenience, then we'll tackle this issue.
RACK!

Jay, you've put forth two situations which are NOT present in probably well over 95% of abortion cases.
You've tried to muddy the issue by going off into these extreme cases.
It's a bullshit tactic designed to divert from the fact that 'pro-choice' dipshits have NO rational counter for the reality that life begins at conception.

1. No good answer here. I could not force my wife or daughter to carry the child to term if that was not her wish.

2. I might recommend terminating the pregnancy in this case.

Be that as it may, it was still a reasonable question.

We're on the same page 'tart, but if our 'side' is going to unequivocably state that "abortion is murder, period"... which we have, then those questions are bound to follow and deserve serious answers
