Comcast: From what I saw, the prices will remain the same but the speed will be upped. They will roll it out this quarter so that probably means sometime this half a year, maybe by the end of the year? (just being realistic is all) As previously reported, the nation's largest cable and broadband pro...

I have a G4 laptop. Its nice but I don't have a lot of software for it cause I don't use it that much. G5s with the latest OSX Panther OS rock. You will not be playing many games, although a lot of them are now coming out for Macs as well. There are however some neat parts. OSX is based on Unix so y...

If you've been trying to decide between DSL or cable, this might be something you are interested in. Comcast Inc., a cable tv/internet provider has decided to increase the bandwidth that they will provide to customers by about 1/4th the speed.

Netscape is back?
I think we've touched on this before on one of the other boards. AOL decided to unkill Netscape. They are basing the latest beta release on Firefox 1.0. The current version got some speed enhancements but they haven't added in some improvements that were promised. I guess if you don't want use an op...

And the next biggest gaming OS will be
Linux? Well, maybe, some day down the road. Considering that some of the younger crowd that is big into gaming is also playing around with Linux, its not hard to imagine. LLGP (Linux Live Gaming Project) is trying to start up this trend. Its a release based on knoppix with some included linux games ...

Here are some basic truths about the PC market: Building your own machine is no longer cheaper then just buying it, well not unless you are building a high end machine and you want to follow your exact specs. If you are willing to start out with some basic goals and possibly deviate just a little, d...

First of all, the larger the drive and the more information there is the longer it will take obviously. 1. As its been suggested, run it when you aren't using the computer anyway. 2. Only run it once a week at best. If you are running Norton, its checking every file executed. 3. If you are running i...

Thanks for your vote of confidence there Goby. Don't you have some internet messageboards to spellcheck? Wireless networks are still relatively flakey so that means that little things might disconnect you from the network. There are however, certain tricks you can try to keep you connected. As junkm...

AOL may fuck things up without a doubt, but my first guess is that you may have cookies disabled. All of these sites use cookies to keep you 'logged' in to the server and if your browser isn't allowed to store them then you can't stay logged in. You may also want to clear your temp/cookies/history f...

Actually, I am. But it depends on the set up you have. If you have one large drive and one optical drive, put them seperate. if you have two hard drives and two optical drives then put the two hard drives on the seperate IDE channels. Now you may ask why I say that? Fair enough. The reasoning is sim...

Here is the deal Jimmah, Windows networking has nothing to do with my computer. In other words, you shouldn't have any delays opening 'My computer' even if you have the two computers networked. Even with only a 10mb/s network, your 'My Computer' would only think about the network if you had a drive/...
