Re: Gigabit LAN

I doubt I would spend the money on a gigabit network at home, but I guess if you happen to get a gig-e switch or you find one very cheap, it can't hurt. I don't think you'll get as much out of it as you think. Sure, it may speed things up if you actually use a file server or you stream media from yo...

My major in college was actuallly the first Starcraft , but I haven't played it since. Picked up SCII last week and all the old ways are slowly coming back to me. Great game thus far, especially like the replay feature. Agreed. I think it was my freshman year that we spent many week playing huge mu...

Re: Starcraft II

It does look awesome but to be honest, the only gaming I've done in a long time has been on my console systems. My computers are just too out of date and my laptops don't have the video cards to really play the game. My next geek toy will most likely be an android tablet.

Re: Can a wireless router start to go bad?

I'm actually a fan of d-link, mainly because back in the day they took the time to build their security out unlike more popular crap products like Linksys. With that said, wifi-routers do go bad quite often. One way to get around these issues is to flash it with some other OS. dd-wrt has worked for ...

Re: Ripping DVDs - Windows 7

Ya I agree, I always used other software to rip the DVD. Shrink 3.2 and Nero both claim to work. I did see some people claim that DVD Decrypter works. Are you running Windows 7 in 64 bit mode. That may be part of your issue. Honestly, I've stopped ripping a long time ago. Between Netflix, Hulu, and ...

Hulu PLus

So I assume most everyone has used Hulu to catch up on your favorite shows before. If you haven't heard, they are rolling out a Hulu Plus service and for 9.99 not only do you get the regular service but you will now be able to get full seasons of every show (not just the last 4 or 5 played on tv). S...

So finally got my Xbox360, the new version, yesterday and went out to pick up some games to test it out after work. I ended up picking up Halo and Left 4 Dead. We ended up playing Left 4 Dead, which was a fairly solid game. Unfortunately Halo does not want to play so more then likely the disk is dam...

All right so just because you are on an open or closed wireless network, it doesn't mean that all your passwords are out there. You may just want to try logging in as Administrator with no password. Windows XP does ask you to create a user account that it uses as the default account. Its possible one of her friends added a password as a joke. Wouldn't be the first time I've heard of that happening.

Sounds like your MS Explorer is crashing. At this point you have two options. One is just a re-install of MS Windows on top of itself/Fix install. This should replace all the windows components but leave your apps in place. It should fix problems, but its definitely not as good as a reinstall. Part ...

The only place I know about setting programs in IE is under Internet Options - Programs, but I don't know of any place to set wav file settings in there. It just does the default (word, email, news group, etc...). My guess would be that the default is still somehow set to the old player in windows.
