And now they're offering downloads of movies and TV shows in HD. They better come out with a bigger harddrive soon.

In no way do I imagine a DVD could look as good as an HD disc does. I'm just pointing out that since I already have a machine that does upscaling I don't need to worry about whether the HD-DVD player I buy has that feature or not.

Are dashupdates for the 360 automatic? You get prompted to install updates when you connect to Xbox Live. I don't think you can decline to install them. The update worked fine for me. It appears to have been an issue with newer 360's and not those that were launch systems. Mine was manufactured in ...

I'm waiting on the final word of how good the Xbox HD-DVD drive is. I already have an upscaling DVD player so I won't need that feature in a new drive. A big factor in the VHS vs Beta war was the porn industry's support of VHS. They could decide which format wins this time as well. I guess time will...

I haven't tried one yet. USB drives are now big enough to hold an entire operation system, so I'd rather use something like MojoPac or Windows XP Embedded to run all of my applications, not just the few supported by U3.

Apparently I was one of "a few" people whose Xbox 360 was effectively ruined by a recent update I downloaded via Xbox Live. I called their support line and was told they'd repair it for $140 since it was out of warranty. I made it very clear that there was no fucking way I was going to pay...

DVD Decrypter is no longer being developed so it obviously isn't keeping up with new forms of copy protection. I rarely copy DVDs anymore, so I don't know what the best ripper is, but last I heard DVDFab Decrypter was taking over where it left off.

I've been listening to the last album by Lifter Puller and it has much in common with the Hold Steady, especially the lyrics, which is to be expected. There is a harder edge to it, however. I'd compare it to Archers Of Loaf and Pavement. It's worth hearing if you're a fan of Craig Finn. http://www.s...
