I'd say the Beatles sound much more limey than U2 sounds Irish. Vocally, I'd agree. The neat thing about music is a bunch of dudes grow up listening to music, then when they play together it all comes out different and makes new music. I've listened to the Chieftains, Clancy Bros, Music of O'Carola...

I love the Cranberries as well. As for U2 being an Irish band trying to sound American ? I disagree. The Beatles, and English band, tried harder to sound American than U2 has. U2 has just been heavily influenced by many American musicians, specifically African American musicians. It's not uncommon. ...

I've heard Metallica's pre-1990 offerings. I didn't say they weren't "GREAT", just "OVERRATED" and of the genre, specifically the West Coast "dark" metal, I think Slayer was better, heavier and darker. Anthrax, was a different style altogether. In terms of rating and &q...

Keep in mind, all these artists are outstanding. Just "over" hyped. In regards to the Springsteen guy, shit yeah, "Born to Run" kicks ass. In regards to Led Zeppelin. KC Scott, I believe Plant had the vocals and Page had the guitar. They're so overhyped you don't even know who pl...

RACK Gangsta shit altogether is over-rated. I wouldn't go that far. The early gangsta rap like NWA, Above The Law, The DOC, Compton's Most Wanted, DJ Quik, etc. was valid because it was about reality. Sure, it was violent, mysogenistic, and homophobic at times, but it was a reflection of what was r...

Gangsta shit altogether is over-rated.

Under-rated Hip Hop

Doug E. Fresh
MC Shan and Marley Marl
Afrika Bambaata

The list is long. Why MTV and it's co-conspirators decided to market Hip Hop once it became about gang violence and violence towards women, is highly suspect.

Highly Suspect.

Compare and Contrast - Under-rated bands.

List under-rated bands and why you believe they should have been bigger hits so they could have made it on your over-rated list. 1. Screaming Trees. I think they were under-rated because they had two big fat fuckers in the band. But they're music was great and I'd say better than the over-rated Seat...

U2, looking back. I suppose over-rated is a good call. It's not that they suck, they don't. Any tune that is inspirational and gives the listener goose bumps, can't suck, U2 has plenty. But over-rated ?

Sure.

I love a lot of Petty tunes. I just think he's over-rated. I think Led Zep was a bit overhyped as well.

As for U2, the only stuff I don't like is that cheesy Europop/Discoteque stuff they did.

U2, strongly disagree.

Brent Midland (sp?) of the 80's Dead reminded me of him in appearance and in vocals. Brent leaned more toward the "too gravelly".
