Dins is right on the Great American Drunk Fest, as well as New Belgium. I grew up and spent my college (read: drinking) days in Oregon before moving to Denver. Most of the so-called great micros I've had here have been OK, but overall couldn't hold Full Sail's jock, let alone Deschutes or Bridgeport...

Well, we use the Cisco VPN concentrator, so I use vpnc. It's actually an extra package for Suse, so no need to build from source; simply install it from the CD or use a mirror site to install it via yast. Easy to install, easy to configure. One word of caution, though: vpnc does NOT disable local LA...

I've played around with VMWare WS a bit and haven't been impressed. Linux host running a Windows virtual environment. The issue I kept running into was that I'd have to manually reconfigure hw after using the virtual OS. Everything seemed to work flawlessly while running the virtual OS, but then I s...

Heh... Hobbes, you might have a point there with Theodore. That's a pretty brutal pickup. Almost a lateral move talent-wise when swapping Aebischer with Theodore, and then you take into account the salaries, and OUCH! My point exactly. Too bad Lacroix didn't see it that way. I'm starting to warm up...

Colorado. I can't say I have a good read on this team. Sakic is a God, but in teh few games I've watched, their D was confused and their forwards seem to be transitioning from the old guard to the new... I just don't think the new guys are good enough yet. I think you've got a pretty good bead on t...

But besides that, Alex Tanguay is the worst, most expensive acquisition ever. Nothing but excuses coming out of his mouth in the media, and if I were Jim Playfair, I'd be awfully tempted to put him on popcorn patrol for a week with his lazy fucking skating and his weak-on-the-puck antics. I have no...

AQ at least finished with 5 ties...I'm actually in last place after Week 1. The Wings only scored 3 goals and played 2 games. In most cases, it could come down to how many games your team plays in a week. I have another 2 game week this week but then the Wings play 4 times in Week 3. I think rotise...

I don't really see what the big deal is either, although I don't think a retired player's salary should count against the cap. Lamoriello found a loophole in a dumb rule. So what? Somebody would have done it sooner or later. Incidentally, the rumor is that Colorado will do this with Konowalchuk as w...

Regehr for Fleury, yup, thank you. Don't. Get me started on Regehr. They could have had him instead of that clueless numbnuts Skoula. The Fleury deal on top of that is like cutting yourself with a rusty knife, then rubbing salt, alcohol and lemon juice into it. Genius is a huge stretch. Genius is a...

Totally Fucked up ones: Paul Karyia/Teemu Sellane- signed for peanuts FOR ONE FUCKING YEAR; didn't get them the cup- Karyia sprained his twat and hardly played all year and Sellane couldn't have sucked more- plus they had to dump quality players like Steven Reinprecht, for instance, who came back t...

They definitely missed his presence in the lineup last year. Luckily, that Laperriere signing was a great move by Lacroix and he should be able to step up and play an even bigger role on the team this year. Also, you'll need a bounce-back year from Hejduk and for youngsters like Svatos and Wolski t...

Konowalchuk retires
According to TSN because of a heart condition.
This sucks. Not only did he add a tangible presence on the ice for Colorado, but he had become a great leader for them. His health comes first, obviously, but damn it sucks to lose him right now.

Colorado re-signs Marek Svatos to a one year deal. Good signing; he was right up there with Ovechkin and Crosby for rookie totals when he got injured. His health has always been something of a question; shoulder injuries have plagued his brief career already. He's got good skills, when he's healthy,...

Nor should you be. Marc Denis is a typical career backup goalie in the NHL: good for a handful of (meaningless) games to rest your starter, and that's about it. This is why Colorado let him walk in the first place. He can't handle the rigors of a full NHL season.MuchoBulls wrote:I'm not too sold on Marc Denis.

Colorado is in OK shape. Good enough to make the playoffs (probably) but that's about it. Hejduk-Sakic-Brunette Wolski-Arnason-Svatos Laperriere-Turgeon-Konowalchuk Laaksonen-McLean-McCormick extra-Brad May, Brad Richardson Leopold-Liles Skrastins-Clark Vaananen-Brisebois extra-Kurt Sauer Theodore B...
